Jadon Sancho started the 2019-20 season with a bang as the England international scored and provided an assist in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Supercup.
After leading Bundesliga for much of 2018-19, Dortmund fell short and were pipped to the post by Bayern, with their rivals also claiming the German Cup after beating RB Leipzig in the final.
But Dortmund laid down a marker ahead of the new season with an impressive victory over Niko Kovac’s men, and Sancho was at the heart of it all.
The former Manchester City youngster intercepted Thiago’s pass in the first half and kept his composure with four defenders around him to find Paco Alcacer on the edge of the box, who opened the scoring with a neat finish past Manuel Neuer.
And Sancho added a goal of his own in the second half, again keeping cool when played through on goal.
