Watch: Jan Vertonghen ends Serge Aurier’s career with training nutmeg

Jan Vertonghen

It’s only been a few days since we wrote about how much we love Serge Aurier – but we’re sad to report his career has been ended by Jan Vertonghen in Tottenham training.

We’re enormous fans of Aurier’s ridiculous approach to being a right-back, but he was humiliated to such an extent by a nutmeg from Vertonghen that it is now surely only a matter of time before the Ivorian announces his retirement from professional football.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, Vertonghen has posted the clip of the humiliation on his Instagram, which also surely means the police will be knocking on his door soon because this kind of bullying can’t possibly be legal.

Team-mates Erik Lamela, Dele Alli, Ryan Sessegnon and Michel Vorm have all commented on the post to add to the disgrace, as have former Spurs players Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, Jermaine Jenas, Tom Carroll and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou – not to mention several players who haven’t even played for Spurs.

Shorn of his soul and his pride, we now await the sad news that Aurier has not only hung up his boots but been forced to go into hiding. Jan, you nasty man.
