Watch: Jurgen Klopp brands anyone who celebrates KDB injury an ‘asshole’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit back at supporters who have celebrated Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s injury.
Supporters have suggested that the injury levels out Klopp’s Liverpool with last year’s runaway champions, but the Anfield boss was having none of such suggestions that he could be happy about the injury to the runner up in the PFA player of the year award..
De Bruyne has damaged the lateral ligament in his right knee and while he does not require an operation, the Belgian is expected to be out for a minimum of two months.
And when asked about the injury and whether he saw it as an advantage to his side just one week into the new Premier League season, Klopp aired his frustration with the reaction.
“I think somebody who thinks like that about a situation like that is an asshole,” he said.
“I’m not like that. I wish him all the very best, I love this player, I wanted him desperately when I was at Dortmund and he was at Chelsea, but Jose didn’t give him to me.”
