Thiago Alcantara showed a touch of class to dance by James Maddison in Liverpool’s Premier League 2-0 win against Leicester last night.

The Spain international was a class above the Foxes on his first start for the Reds after returning from injury.

It didn’t take long for Liverpool’s midfield maestro to showcase his favourite party trick to Maddison’s expense.

As the ball trickled into the 30-year-old – the England international pressing behind – he spun away with an elegance we’ve become accustomed to seeing over the years.

Thiago has mastered this skill at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He is now executing it to great effect on a weekly basis in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp brought the midfielder to Anfield in 2020. After his influential debut at Stamford Bridge, it quickly became apparent just why the German was so keen to secure his services.

Klopp told Sky Sports after the Chelsea victory last season: “There are very special things [he has that separates him from others] in world football. His vision is exceptional, pair that with pretty good technical skills, and a nice passing ability and these kind of things, and you become a really interesting package. That’s what Thiago is.”

We can be sure to see plenty more highlight reel moments from Thiago in a Liverpool shirt.
