Watch: Liverpool’s Leighton Clarkson sets up goal with outrageous pass
The future looks very bright at Liverpool and Harvey Elliott strutted his stuff in the Premier League for the Reds on Saturday afternoon, but he was not the only youngster impressing as loanee Leighton Clarkson appeared for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
Elliott spent last season on loan with Tony Mowbray’s side and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping a similar positive effect can be had on Clarkson. The early signs look very promising.
After the Reds beat Burnley 2-0, Blackburn lost 2-1 to West Brom. But the only spark of the game for Mowbray’s side was provided by Clarkson.
Making his way down the left-hand side during a counterattack, the 19-year-old took one look up and spotted Ben Brereton-Diaz bombing towards the box.
Using the outside of his right foot, he curled a gorgeous pass right into the path of the Chile international, who got the better of Sam Johnstone and tapped into an empty.
Take a look at the Liverpool starlet’s contribution below.
