Watch: Lucas almost scores brilliant solo goal moments before Reds’ second

The momentum of a football match can swing from one way to another in the matter of seconds – and Tottenham found out exactly that against Liverpool on Saturday.

Tottenham hosted Liverpool at Wembley in the first game back after the international break hoping to bounce back from defeat at Watford in their previous Premier League fixture.

Liverpool, meanwhile were looking to continue their 100% start to the season and were much the better side in the first half, eventually taking the lead when Georginio Wijnaldum’s header just crossed the line before Michel Vorm could gather the ball.

After a sluggish first 45, Spurs came out after the break looking much sharper and almost equalised when Lucas Moura cut in from the left flank and bamboozled the Liverpool defence.

With the goal at his mercy, the Brazil international attempted to fire the ball in at Alisson Becker’s near post, only to see the ball strike the woodwork.

And to compound the miss, minutes later Liverpool went on the attack and doubled their lead thanks to a scrappy goal from Roberto Firmino.
