Watch: Man Utd loanee Amad Diallo registers first assist for Rangers
Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo registered his first assist for Rangers during their 3-0 win over Annan Atheltic in the Scottish Cup.
Amad, who joined United from Atalanta in a £19million deal in January 2021, is regarded as one of the most highly regarded youngsters in world football.
But he made just one appearance for the Red Devils in 2021-22 and joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers in search of regular first-team football.
The winger made an immediate impact on his debut against Ross County, scoring inside the opening five minutes with his first shot.
“I was really impressed by his performance, he’s a left-footed attacking winger who can get at defenders and put the real fear into them,” Rangers captain James Tavernier said after the 3-3 draw.
“I’m delighted to have him in front of me and hopefully we can create a really good relationship where we can move forward and really strengthen that right-hand side.”
He remained in the starting XI for their game against Celtic but was substituted at half-time as Rangers found themselves trailing 3-0.
The Ivory Coast international has played just five minutes in their last two Scottish Premiership games, coming off the bench in the final stages of their 5-0 win over Hearts.
But he returned to the starting XI for the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Annan Athletic and played in the No.10 role behind striker Kemar Roofe.
After Filip Helander and Roofe gave Rangers a 2-0 lead, Amad received the ball in the middle of the park and picked out team-mate Fashion Sakala in the 32nd minute.
Sakala then found the back of the net from a ridiculous angle before copying Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUUU’ celebration.
Amad will now be hoping to start in Rangers’ upcoming Europa League tie against Borussia Dortmund, who reportedly tried to sign him in January.
Fashion Sakala caught everyone out with that strike! 😂
