Watch: Is Liverpool target Marcos Leonardo Brazil’s next superstar?

Brazil are certainly no strangers when it comes to producing world-class talents and Marcos Leonardo could be their latest gem.

In our latest YouTube video, we have checked out the Brazilian forward and looked into some of his goals and assists.

The 19-year-old has already featured in more than 100 games for Santos and he has scored 29 goals in that time.

Marcos Leonardo is naturally a No.9, but he is comfortable playing across the forward line.

He has the Brazilian flair you would expect from such a player and his link-up play is also a notable strength of his game.

The Brazilian wonderkid signed his first professional contract at Santos in October 2019 and he went on to make his debut for the club in 2020.

During his first season with the famous Brazilian outfit, he made 22 appearances across all competitions and he scored five goals, including a strike in the Copa Libertadores.

Santos finished eighth in the league during the 2020 season and they finished as runners-up in the Copa Libertadores, losing out to rivals Palmeiras in the final.

In Marcos Leonardo’s second season with the club, he gained even more experience by playing 40 games across all competitions. He added eight goals and got one assist to his tally in that campaign.

The youngster has really moved onto another level in the 2022 season though. It’s been his most prolific season to date as he has already scored 16 goals in 42 appearances.

At the time of writing, Santos find themselves 10th in the Brazilian Serie A after 22 games.

Marcos Leonardo recently came to the rescue against Fluminense as he popped up with a last-minute equaliser to make it 2-2.

Santos have quite a history of producing wonderkids in their academy as the likes of Neymar, Rodrygo and Felipe Anderson have all been recent examples of players they have brought through.

Liverpool are the latest club linked with the 19-year-old and if he carries on with his current trajectory, there’ll be plenty of other suitors.

His current release clause is set at €60 million and time will tell if anyone rolls the dice on him.

Whatever the future may hold for Marcos Leonardo, it will be a fun ride.
