Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Anfield – but Naby Keita certainly did his best to find an opening.
Liverpool struggled to create clear-cut openings against the German champions and will now be outsiders to progress to the quarter-finals when they head to the Allianz Arena next month with Bayern having lost only two of their last 26 home games in the competition.
The Reds did have their moments on the night, however, with Sadio Mane missing the best chance midway through the first half and Mohamed Salah producing a moment of genius to help set up another for Joel Matip five minutes before the break.
Jordan Henderson was outstanding in midfield throughout, producing one marvellous pass to get Salah in over the top early on, but one of the moments of the match came from Keita, who was wasteful in possession at times but at his best when dribbling with the ball.
