Watch: Non-league game brought to a halt after an alpaca invades the pitch

While different animals can often be seen running around football fields across the country, you don’t expect to see an alpaca on a pitch.
But Carlton Athletic’s game against Ilkley Town in the seventh tier of English football was brought to a standstill on Saturday after an alpaca escaped from a local farm.
It appeared on the pitch five minutes before half-time and evaded attempts to usher it off while those in the dugout looked completely bemused.
Play was stopped for 20 minutes but the game eventually got back underway and Ilkley Town went on to win 2-0 thanks to goals from Tom Fleming and Joe Chilaka.
