Marcus Rashford couldn’t help but laugh at himself after the striker fluffed his lines in Manchester United‘s 2-0 victory over Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Rashford has been rejuvenated under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, scoring three times and providing a single assist during having started all four of the new United boss’ first Premier League matches in charge.
The England international was given a rest against Reading and was named on the bench in order to allow Romelu Lukaku a first start since returning from injury.
But Rashford entered the fray with 25 minutes remaining and was presented with a great opportunity to score when played clean through on goal in the last minute of normal time.
It’s fair to say it didn’t quite go to plan, but at least he found a funny side of it. It’s hard not to think this might have been slightly different had Jose Mourinho still been in charge.
