Watch: Roy Keane delivers bleak prediction for Gareth Bale at Spurs
It was one of the most talked-about transfers of the summer when Tottenham confirmed the return of Gareth Bale on a season-long loan, but so far it has been a bit of a slow burn.
Back in the 2012-13 campaign, 30 goal contributions in 33 Premier League games saw Bale earn a move to Real Madrid, where he picked up four Champions League winner’s medals.
It was easy to see why Spurs fans were so happy to see his return, but with no assists and just two goals in his opening 10 matches, the question is starting to be asked of whether or not he can recapture his best form.
Following a 2-0 loss to Leicester City on Sunday, with a Jamie Vardy penalty and Toby Alderweireld own goal condemning Spurs to a second consecutive defeat, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane expressed his doubt that Jose Mourinho would see the best of the Welshman during his season-long spell.
“I don’t see Gareth Bale getting back to the level he was a few years ago,” he said. “As a top player, you’ve got to play week in week out…he looks way off it.”
