Watch: Roy Keane slams Grealish and Sterling for not taking crucial penalty

England‘s Euro 2020 campaign ended in heartbreak at Wembley as Bukayo Saka’s crucial penalty was saved by Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma in the shootout – but Roy Keane could not believe others did not step up in the 19-year-old’s place.

Luke Shaw had given Gareth Southgate’s side the dream start, firing home from a Kieran Trippier cross inside the opening two minutes.

England remained on top for the remainder of the half, but on the 67th minute, a penalty box scramble following an Italy corner ended with Leonardo Bonucci bundling the ball into the net.

So to penalties, it went. Misses from Andrea Belotti and Jorginho gave the hosts hope but errors from the spot from Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Saka handed the Henri Delauney trophy to Roberto Mancini’s side.

Keane, who was working as a pundit for ITV, was scathing of Saka’s teammates for letting the 19-year-old take the crucial kick after full time.

“If you’re Sterling or Grealish, you cannot sit there and have a young kid walk up ahead of you. You can’t,” he said.
