Watch: Spectacular crossfield pass from Barca’s Pedri almost leads to goal

A spectacular crossfield pass from Barcelona midfielder Pedri almost led to Spain goal during their World Cup qualifier against Georgia.

Pedri was called up to the Spanish squad for the first time ahead of the current international break and made his debut as a substitute during the 1-1 draw with Greece on Thursday.

He obviously impressed manager Luis Enrique as he made his first start in Georgia.

And Pedri caught the eye with a wonderful pass midway through the first half.

Receiving the ball near the left touchline, the 18-year-old pinged a drilled pass over the Georgian defence and into the path of Ferran Torres.

Torres failed to control the pass but that didn’t detract from the brilliant pass that preceded it.

Spain found their opponents unexpectedly stubborn and were only able to scramble a late goal to win 2-1.

With both Sweden and Greece in their qualifying group, Spain will need to recover from their slow start quickly in order to make the finals.
