Watch: ‘There’s no one else like him’ Gen Zer’s first reaction to Johan Cruyff

In our football legend reaction series on YouTube Ben has recently reacted to the likes of Diego MaradonaMarco van Basten and Adriano, but this time he was in for quite the ride as he watched Johan Cruyff for the first time.

Considered as the father of modern football, Cruyff started his professional career with Ajax in 1964 where he went onto win eight league titles in 12 seasons with the Dutch club.

The three time Ballon d’Or winner scored 273 goals whilst he was at Ajax, a club where he won 18 trophies, including three European Cups.

In 1973, Cruyff moved to Barcelona for a world record transfer fee of around £922,000 and won LaLiga in his first season with the club.

He went onto score 85 goals for Barcelona across five seasons and he later returned to the Spanish club in 1988 as their manager.

As a manager, Cruyff revolutionised football and laid the foundations for Barcelona’s future success.

He managed over 550 games as a manager, spending three years at Ajax before he moved back to Barcelona and he had a stint as the Catalonia manager towards the end of his career.

Ben might have been too young to witness the greatness of Johan Cruyff, but this is the next best thing…
