Watch: Timo Werner somehow miss brilliant chance for Chelsea vs Rennes

Timo Werner has caught the eye at Chelsea this season, but the striker is still human like the rest of us.

Having signed from Leipzig for £47.5million over the summer, Werner was under pressure to deliver goals instantly as Frank Lampard’s team looked to improve on fourth place this campaign.

With eight goals in 13 matches complemented by a willingness to work hard for the team, Werner has managed to meet expectations so far.

However, no striker is immune from embarrassing misses, as the Germany international demonstrated in Chelsea’s Champions League match at Rennes.

After a slick interchange between Cesar Azpilicueta and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the right flank, a perfect cross was curled into the centre for Werner to open the scoring.

But in a strong contender for miss of the season, the forward ended up skying the ball over the bar from six yards out.

Don’t worry Timo, we’ve all been there.
