Yamal, Olise and Fernandes are among this season's assist kings

Top 10 players with the most assists in Europe’s major leagues in 2025-26: Fernandes finishes top

Some players take as much joy from creating goals for others as they do from scoring themselves, but who’s made the most assists this season?

No doubt you’ll have seen the exploits of players like Bruno Fernandes and Michael Olise in their respective leagues’ assist charts. But who are the top 10 players from Europe’s top five leagues with the most assists in 2025-26?

We’re only counting assists in league games rather than all competitions, which in theory puts Bundesliga and Ligue 1 players at a slight disadvantage since their seasons are shorter.

But there are actually three Bundesliga players in the top 10, along with three from the Premier League, two from La Liga and one each from Ligue 1 and Serie A.

For any players with the same number of assists, those with fewer minutes played (i.e. a better assists-to-minutes ratio) rank more highly.

10. Luis Milla – 10

The Getafe journeyman has had the season of his life in central midfield, helping his club to qualify for Europe in one of their best ever seasons. After doubling his assist tally for his whole Getafe career, Milla is an unusual addition to this list.

9. Adrien Thomasson – 10

Thomasson captained Lens throughout a title challenge in Ligue 1 this season, although they ultimately fell short. Winning the Coupe de France made up for it though.

The midfielder made his 10th assist of the season in a 1-1 draw with Nice at the start of May.

8. Jarrod Bowen – 11

West Ham ended up suffering relegation from the Premier League, despite their captain being one of only three players in the division with double figures of assists.

All but one of those 11 have come in the second half of the season, including against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.

7. Lamine Yamal – 11

Barcelona sensation Yamal has hit double figures of goals and assists in La Liga this season, all at the mind-blowing age of 18.

Records have been falling and there could be plenty more to come.

6. Rayan Cherki – 12

Cherki has lit up the Premier League in his debut season with Manchester City. The former Lyon playmaker just can’t be contained – not even by Pep Guardiola.

Like Yamal, he also has double figures of goals to his name. Signing of the season?

5. Luis Diaz – 14

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side for players leaving Liverpool, but it has been for Diaz at Bayern Munich.

His debut season in the Bundesliga has been sublime, with nearly 50 goal contributions across all competitions.

He provided a hat trick of assists in Bayern’s 8-1 win over Wolfsburg in January, and scored once himself for good measure.

4. Julian Ryerson – 15

Unlike everyone else on this list, Ryerson hasn’t got any goals to go with his collection of assists this season.

That’s fair enough for a right-back. His 15 Bundesliga assists with Borussia Dortmund are 11 more than he managed last term and comfortably the best return of his career.

3. Federico Dimarco – 18

There was some disputing the concept of Dimarco supposedly setting the record for most assists by a defender in a Serie A season, given that he plays so advanced as a wing-back that he’s probably more of a midfielder.

There’s no disputing the fact that the Inter star has set the record for most assists by a player of any position in a Serie A season since tracking began.

Over the winter, Dimarco went five games in a row with at least one assist – including three in one game against Sassuolo.

2. Michael Olise – 19

In all competitions, Olise wasn’t far off the most assists in a season since 2000, falling one short of Lionel Messi’s 32 from 2011-12.

The former Crystal Palace winger has been in outstanding form for Bayern Munich, even managing a triple assist against RB Leipzig in January within a run of six games in a row setting up goals.

Bayern rounded off their Bundesliga campaign in style, thrashing Koln 5-1, but Vincent Kompany shuffled his pack and Olise was only a late substitute.

His final tally for the season stands at 19 assists in the Bundesliga, but he went out on a high with an assist in the DFB Pokal final to reach 31 for the season.

1. Bruno Fernandes – 21

Fernandes marked the final day of the season by breaking the record for the most assists in a Premier League campaign, overtaking Thierry Henry (2002-03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019-20) by reaching 21.

But some think that’s only moved him level with Darren Anderton.
